Scenic 7–8 hour drive from Kathmandu to Syabrubesi along winding mountain roads. Rest and prepare for the trek.
Day 2
6 hrs / 13 km / sleep 2,470 m
Trek through dense oak, rhododendron, and bamboo forests. Cross suspension bridges over the Langtang Khola. Lama Hotel is a collection of lodges in the forest.
Day 3
6 hrs / 12 km / sleep 3,430 m
Continue uphill with improving views. Pass yak pastures at Ghodatabela (3,000m) with mountain vistas opening up. Langtang Village is a rebuilt Tamang settlement.
Day 4
3 hrs / 7 km / sleep 3,870 m
Shorter day for acclimatization. Trek through meadows and glacial moraine to Kyanjin Gompa. Visit the monastery and the yak cheese factory.
Day 5
6 hrs / 9 km / sleep 3,870 m
Acclimatization day. Hike to Tserko Ri (4,984m) for stunning 360° views of Langtang Lirung, Ganesh Himal, and possibly Shishapangma in Tibet. Return to sleep at Kyanjin Gompa.
Day 6
6 hrs / 19 km / sleep 2,470 m
Descend back through the valley, retracing the route through Langtang Village and Ghodatabela to Lama Hotel.
Day 7
5 hrs / 13 km / sleep 1,550 m
Final trekking day. Descend through the forest back to Syabrubesi.
Day 8

Drive back to Kathmandu (7–8 hours).
